Frequent Problems with Final Versions of Papers (TeX)
|
There are frequent
problems with final versions of papers for the Proceedings.
If you are using the llncs class (or style), before sending the final version, please,
read carefully new Instructions for Authors at
http://www.springer.de/comp/lncs/authors.html
and
http://www.springer.de/comp/lncs/instruct/typeinst.pdf
and check especially the following:
- Neither page numbers nor running heads should be included in the paper.
- The default page settings (such as textwidth and textheight) should not
be changed in any way.
- The default base font size (10pt) should not be changed in any way.
- The default line spacing should not be changed in any way. Generally,
no additional space should be inserted into text (such as space inserted
using the \vspace{...} command).
- The figures and tables should be defined as floating objects and usage
of placement specifier `h' for `here' should be avoided. Figure captions
should be placed below the figure, while table captions above
the table. The last sentence of the figure or table caption should generally
end without a period.
- Consecutive numbers should be used for the list of references, that is
no optional argument [...] to the \bibitem commands should be specified.
Check also that you have correctly set the argument to the
\begin{thebibliography}{...} command, i.e. \begin{thebibliography}{9} if you
have at most 9 references, \begin{thebibliography}{99} if you have at most
99 refereneces (the parameter is used to define the maximal with of the
reference number).
- Headings should be capitalized. This includes paper title and all of
lower level headings (sections, subsections,...)
- Overfull \hbox-es should be avoided.
- Do not try to "hack" LLNCS Style/class in any way.
- Note that we need not only PS-file with your contribution and all of
source files, but also a DVI-file and, if possible, also a PDF-file. All of
them must be identical. DVI-files and PDF-files are binary, hence they
should be sent either as an attachment or uuencoded in advance.
